The therapeutic contract is adapted to the individual characteristics of each client and discussed before the first therapy session. It helps establish clear boundaries, working format, and mutual expectations in advance.

For children under the age of 14, the document is signed by parents or legal guardians.

In the case of family therapy, the contract is signed by all participants.

General Provisions

This contract defines the conditions of psychotherapeutic work between the psychologist and the client (adult, child, couple, or family).

The goals of therapy include:

  • Improving the client’s psychological well-being
  • Increasing self-awareness and emotional understanding
  • Exploring unconscious processes, emotional conflicts, and behavioral patterns

Within the therapeutic relationship, the following are prohibited:

  • Gifts

Confidentiality
The psychologist maintains confidentiality except in the following situations:
  • A threat to the life or health of the client or other individuals
  • Abuse or violence involving a child or legally incapacitated person
  • Requests from courts or law enforcement authorities (within the limits of applicable law)
For clients under the age of 16, limited information may be discussed with parents or legal guardians if necessary for the child’s safety and well-being.
The psychologist may also consult with a supervisor or during professional supervision without disclosing the client’s personal identity.

Therapeutic Records
The psychologist keeps brief professional written records regarding the therapeutic process.
These records are stored securely, are inaccessible to third parties, and are used exclusively for therapeutic and professional purposes.
De-identification measures are used during storage: the client’s name, contact details, and other identifying information may be replaced with codes or anonymized references.

Upon request, the client may receive information about what data is collected and how it is stored.

Responsibilities of the Psychologist
  • Creating a safe, supportive, and accepting therapeutic environment
  • Following professional ethical standards
  • Providing information about the therapeutic process (in an age-appropriate and adapted form when working with children)
  • Maintaining professional documentation and records
  • Informing the client about the methods being used and the limits of professional competence
  • Referring the client to another specialist when necessary (psychiatrist, neurologist, physician, or other healthcare professional)
  • The psychologist does not provide emergency psychiatric or medical assistance.
Responsibilities of the Client
  • Maintaining regular attendance of sessions
  • Providing at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations (otherwise the session is charged in full)
  • For child therapy: parents are responsible for ensuring attendance and participating in the process when necessary
  • Client lateness does not affect the session fee (the session is paid in full regardless of shortened time due to lateness)
  • The client may contact the psychologist regarding organizational matters (cancellations, rescheduling, scheduling clarification) on weekdays from 09:00 to 21:00 Moscow time

The client agrees to inform the psychologist about:

  • relevant health conditions
  • use of psychotropic medication
  • suicidal thoughts or intentions
  • psychiatric recommendations or prescribed treatment plans
Payment Terms
  • Payment must be made at least 24 hours before the session (via bank transfer)
  • If the client misses a session without advance notice, the prepayment is non-refundable
  • If the session is canceled on the psychologist’s side, the prepayment is either transferred to the next session or refunded to the client
Special Conditions for Work with Children
  • Parents or legal guardians sign informed consent for therapy
  • The first 1–2 sessions are conducted with a parent in order to collect background information and developmental history
  • The psychologist may recommend parallel parent consultations alongside the child’s therapy
  • The psychologist works in the best interests of the child, rather than in the interests of the parents alone
  • The psychologist does not provide detailed reports about topics discussed during sessions if doing so would violate the child’s trust and therapeutic confidentiality
Termination of Therapy

The client may discontinue therapy after discussing this decision during a session.

A final closing session is recommended whenever possible.

The psychologist reserves the right to terminate the therapeutic process if:

  • The client repeatedly violates therapeutic boundaries (aggression, threats, abusive behavior)
  • The therapy proves ineffective (alternative forms of support or referrals may be suggested)
  • Outstanding payment debt arises for completed sessions or services
  • There are repeated late arrivals, cancellations, or rescheduling requests from the client’s side
* All changes are communicated through direct messages and updated on this page.
